A day trip to Hidiha Island via Boera Village.

Depart from Port Moresby at 07.15hrs, travel along the Hanuabada by-pass, past Kanudi (POM Tech) and take the Porebada/Lea Lea road. Just before Papa village branch left to Boera village (sign posted). Continue along this road towards the village and just before the main village you will be met, where you will park your vehicle (total drive time 25 – 30 mins).

From Boera village take a boat to Hidiha Island (the boat will leave at 08.00hrs), passing Bava Island (inhabited by a variety of sea birds). Hidiha Island is uninhabited except for a few local fishermen and their families, who take shelter there during the fishing season. The time in the boat is approx. 30-40mins.

The island enjoys white sandy beaches, sheltered swimming bays and provides the visitor with an opportunity to experience paradise within reach of Port Moresby.

The island can be navigated by foot in about 30 – 40 mins. A Bar-B-Q facility will be provided together with a locally built shelter on the beach.

The boat will leave the island at 14.00hrs to return to Boera village.

The cost per person is (price on application -limited to groups of 6), which includes safe parking of the vehicles at Boera village, return boat ride to the island, shelter and Bar-B-Q facility. It is possible that hand line fishing can be done from the boat, during the day.

Individuals travelling to Hidiha Island would be advised to take the following:
1. Sun screen – sun hat – towel
2. Snorkelling equipment if required
